Skillz - For Real
Mad Skillz or Skillz has always been one of the most lyrical dudes IMO. Skillz is most popular for the song "Ghostwriter". In which he names (but edits) artists for which he has written hit singles. With lines like 'I'm a ghostwriter, I'm the cat that you don't see/I write hits for rappers you like and charge 'em a fee'. Un-edited versions of the track have not surfaced but Skillz is known to do a live performance in which he includes the names. In one live performance he mentions P. Diddy, Foxy Brown, Mase, and Jermaine Dupri. Since the year 2002 Skillz has done a year end "Rap-Up" song that explaines the events of the prior 12 months. If you can find it look for "From where" Skillz ' Atlantic debut

The brilliance of Ryan Leslie
Ryan Leslie's production style utilizes real instruments while still achieving the same style of beat machines. Production credits include Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Cassie, JoJo, Danity Kane, Diddy, Snoop Dogg, Katharine McPhee, LL Cool J & Usher. Here is a cool fact about Ryan Leslie. He finished his junior year and then enroll in college. Leslie attended Harvard University in the fall of 1994 at 15 years old and graduated at the age of 19. I came across this on a message board. He composed this shit on the fly on sirius radio.. it sounds amazing (not really paying attention to the song playing over it, tho)

Classics
There are a handful of New singers that have conviction, but most new singers just don't. Years ago, no matter what the subject matter was you felt it, it is amazing that after all these years these songs still hit. The artist from the 60's and 70's gave you the real. Their vocals were intense and you could feel the situation.

DJ Rogers -Faithful to the End

WU TANG CLAN AINT NOTHING 2 FUCK WITH
I alway rep where I come from and that is Staten Island. I take pride in where I come from so it makes sense that I post the trailer for the WuTang Documentary. If it wasnt for 36 Chambers I wouldn't be deejaying. Wu changed the way hip hop was heard and felt they will always be regarded as one the best Hip Hop groups to ever do it. Do your homework on the 9 prophets from the Rugged Isle of Shaolin.....

Roc-A-Fella’s 2001 Freestyle Session On Hot 97 pt. 1 (Video)
I must have been a Junior in High school, when the Roc-A-Fella artist went to Hot 97 and did there thing on Funk master flex's radio show with one of the best posse freestyles on Flex's program. I knew a kid in school that could get any mix tape so i asked him for the freestyles i heard on Hot 97. i still have the c.d., Cipha Sounds has shared with the world video footage of the entire thing, and is releasing them in 7 parts. The entire session in mixtape format can be found here. Shout outs to 2dopeboyz.com and knowxone for making me remember i have this c.d.

“Electric Relaxation”
While I work all night tonight ,this track will be on repeat on the Ipod. Tribe were bridging the gap before it was the in thing to do. They were one of the first groups that I took notice to, that used real instrumentation to rap. You could hear guitar, bass, and a brass section.“Electric Relaxation” to me best represents this.
