Lynyrd Skynyrd

Lynyrd Skynyrd is Southern rock band. that became popular in 1973, the song most recognizable from Skynyrd is "Sweet Home Alabama". The band named themselves after there High-school gym teacher Leonard Skinnerd, it was a mock name but it caught on. Unfortunately 3 member of Lynyrd Skynyrd died in a plane crash.The plane ran out of fuel and crashed in a forest killing Singer/songwriter Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist/vocalist Steve Gaines, backing vocalist Cassie Gaines. The Drummer crawled out of the plane wreckage with several broken ribs, but was able to walk, hiked some distance from the crash to try and get help. Years later Ronnie Van Zant's little brother Johnny took over as lead singer. What is so great about Lynyrd Skynyrd was there musical abilities if you ever heard an album the guitar playing was like breathing for these dudes very organic at they time they did something not common they had 3 guitar players and that created layers to there music. Freebird is the perfect example of how amazing a guitar can be if done correctly they sounds great on a record and from the footage i have seen they play amazing live.
